Year 5/6
Summer Term 2026
The Summer Term sees our Year 5 and 6 pupils experiencing a variety of exciting opportunities.
The Year 6 children will be fully prepared for their SATs, having recapped the Year 3, 4 and 5 curriculum, as well as learning new strategies and skills from the Year 6 curriculum. They will be very comfortable and familiar with the process and eager to show off their skills. Year 6 know that if they try their hardest, as they have been doing all year, they should always be proud of what they achieve.
As the days get warmer, another highlight will be our Outdoor Education day at Loughrigg. The children will use the map skills they have learnt throughout their school journey to independently complete an orienteering course.
Final preparations for Year 6 as they transition to secondary school will take place through on-site visits, as well as opportunities for Year 5 to begin this process—learning about managing big changes and welcoming visitors who will help us understand these transitions.
The Summer Term is also when we begin preparations for our school production: we will hold auditions for parts and roles, learn lines and songs, and create props and backdrops. Our performances don’t end there, though! Year 6 will also prepare for the Leavers’ Service, where they will perform their original leavers’ song and dance.
Year 6 have so much to look forward to in their final term of primary school, and Year 5 also have an action-packed term ahead!
