Communication and Language:

Young children gain independence and develop their view of the world through their ability to listen, comprehend and speak. For all children, including those whose first language is not English, our goal is to ensure that they all develop a good understanding of language so they can access the curriculum fully. We aim to equip all of our children with the building blocks to communicate freely and coherently through targeted and specific modelling and teaching of vocabulary, language structures and through engaging experiences and deliberately planned provocations that spark the imagination and give children a range of opportunities to in which to talk and converse. Highly skilled staff are able to support and extend pupils language development with interactions, they also are trained in ‘Talk Boost’ and ‘Time to Talk’ to support the development of children in their care.
