Personal, Social and Emotional Development:

When children are unable to self-regulate, this impacts their overall development. We want every child to become kind, understanding and empathetic members of the classroom and wider society, to be able to build meaningful, positive relationships with others and to learn how to make choices that benefit their mental and physical health. Acquiring these skills is particularly crucial for our children at St Martin & St Mary. Due to this, we ensure that their personal, social and emotional development is at the heart of our curriculum. It is threaded throughout adult-led inputs during the day and modelled to children in-the-moment during play and exploration time, especially through our ‘SCARF’ taught sessions which run throughout all our year groups.
